OUR CALL TO ACTION

The STEM education landscape has shifted dramatically. Shifts in Federal funding priorities and investments have created significant challenges for programs thousands depend upon. AI is fundamentally reshaping education and workforce demands at an unprecedented pace. Our institutions and education systems need immediate and coordinated action beyond incremental improvements. Technical (CTE) STEM talent ecosystem faces unprecedented demand due to major investments in sustainable energy, data centers and defense projects. While there has been some success in improving outcomes, the overall national trajectory remains very challenging. According to a 2025 report issued by Encourage, which surveyed 54,000 students in 8-12th grades across our nation, since 2020 awareness of STEM careers has improved, but student interest has declined. Now, more than ever, we need a cohesive, strategic and impactful approach to address this significant challenge for our nation, our businesses, our communities and our children.
